About Us

I'm Isaac. When I was 7 years old I had my first cup of coffee and was immediately hooked. I'm pretty sure it was ~80% milk but still. I've always had an interest in coffee.

In the spring of 2020, most of my outdoor hobbies became unavailable and my office job quickly became a home-office job. This meant instead of driving 45 minutes to work I could spend a little extra time in the morning making breakfast or drinking coffee.

I quickly discovered that good coffee can be hard to find, and when it is found, it's often expensive. In an effort to reduce the cost of my own coffee I decided to try my hand at roasting my own beans.

In mid 2020 I roasted my first batch of coffee on a cheap electric popcorn popper and knew immediately that this would become a huge part of my life.

The sounds, the smells, and the incredible coffee produced in these small batch roasts is beyond comparison. As I continued to improve my roasting skills I was quickly creating coffee that rivaled some of my local roasters. I began sharing this coffee with fellow home roasters I met in forums and on social media and used their advice to improve even further.

In 2022 we purchased our first home, and I immediately converted a section of our basement in to a dedicated roastery. This allowed us to purchase a coffee roaster that could roast in larger batches while still allowing me the precise control I was used to on my homemade roaster.

Reilly (my wonderful wife and dedicated business partner) and I decided to create Shipwreck Coffee Roasters as a way to meet new people in our community and roast more coffee. That's it. We're not trying to quit our day jobs. We're just here to roast coffee and meet you!
